2015 1/2 KTM 550 SX Factory Edition custom one off exotic factory build

The bike that two-stroke dreams are made of. This bike is an absolute ONE OF A KIND and is the FIRST and currently ONLY KTM 550SX. Motocross Action Magazine dubbed it as "being the most powerful motocross bike ever tested by MXA." It started out as a 2015 1/2 KTM 250 SX-F Factory Edition. The bike was un-crated and assembled at and by a KTM dealership. The bike was started up to ensure proper operation. The motor & wire harness was removed and sold for a cage kart application. A 1994 KTM 550 MXC was acquired. The bike was complete and ran great. It had been ported & polished by the previous owner. A complete new clutch & water pump was installed. The 550 motor was removed and fitted into the factory edition frame by a local fabrication shop, iginit Fabrication. They fabricated lower frame tubes and upper cylinder head mounts to fit the 550 motor. The 550 radiator hoses were routed into the existing radiators on the factory edition. The swingarm was modified to accept the reverse direction of the rear wheel. A custom rear brake caliper mount was made to fit the brake from the 1994. Since the direction was reversed the modern caliper would not work. The rear brake pedal had to be changed due to the new location of the drive chain. A brake lever from a KTM 640 LC4 was used. The air box from the 1994 was modified and fitted into the subframe of the new chassis. Since the air intake was on the right side, he rear shock had to be modified. The reservoir was cut off and made into a remote reservoir that sits under the seat where the battery was located. The stock 550 pipe was refurbished to a works finish by Pacific Crest Pipe Repair. The FMF shorty silencer was custom fitted by another local fabrication shop, enfab Fabrication. The subframe was modified to accept the new silencer. The fuel tank is off a 2016 KTM 150SX. Zeta brake away levers were installed as well as a new clutch perch to replace the hydraulic assembly. Custom 550SX stickers were made to finish it off.
In October 2015, he bike was driven down to southern California for Motocross Action Magazine to take pictures and test ride the 550 SX. They gave it "The distinction of being the most powerful motocross bike ever tested by MXA" The bike was ridden approximately 40 minutes before it blew a crank seal. It was driven home and replaced. The bike was ridden to ensure it has been fixed properly. This auction is for the above mentioned bike and includes a copy of the Motocross Action magazine that it was featured in. Happy bidding!
