1979 KTM MC 420 - Fully Restored - Mint - Vintage MX

1979 KTM MC 420 - Fully restored by Rick Doughty at Vintage Iron in Yorba Linda California.   I caught the vintage bug after seeing a vintage MX race.    I invested over $9000. 00 restoring my old KTM which I used to ride in the California desert back in the late 70's and early 80's.    My intention was to start racing vintage motocross or what my buddy and I affectionately call "Old Man Motocross".   At 57 years old I learned an expensive lesson that I no longer have the energy or the "cojones" to do this type of activity anymore.   "More money than brains". my wife says.    Anyhoo. since restoration the bike was only ridden 4 times. tenderly I might add. nbsp; on 2 practice rides and 2 vintage races.   (I hadn't ridden a bike in almost 20 years and I was a little spooked so I bought and wore so much protective gear that I was roasting hot all the time and I could barely move to get on and off the bike. Ha!)The bike was never even laid down.   I recently replaced the side covers as they had minor boot scuffs on them. so it looks as pretty as it did when it left Vintage Iron.   Rick Doughty does amazing work by the way.   I have the reserve set at half of what it cost me to restore her.     I hate to see her go since I purchased her new back in 1979. but sadly all things must come to an end.   My loss is your gain.
