1954 Lambretta LD 125, MkII - Innocenti - UK registered.

For Sale: An original 1954 Italian made Innocenti Lambretta LD125.  This is a private sale and not an auction. I am selling this very desirable and much sought after 1954. classic Italian Lambretta LD125. MkII.  These were never the fastest scooters from the Innocenti stable. but. are without a doubt the most spectacular in terms of looks and design lines.  Over 60 years old its iconic vintage shape and style still blends well on the modern road and is guaranteed to raise eyebrows and prompt smiles from many a waving passer-by and other road users. The eBay pictures make the colour look red and white when it is in fact more of a maroon and cream.  This scooter was restored in 2006 and is showing signs of daily use.  It starts first kick. sometimes the second. and idles sweet as a nut.  However. there is an intermittent problem. which I suspect could be with the clutch or its Teleflex gear selector cable set-up.   When the gear is selected and the clutch released there is no drive!  I am not a mechanic so would not know where to begin. I am told that LD's require special tools so prospective buyers should be aware of this.  In the pictures the paint job looks quite good - who said that the camera never lies?  On closer inspection there are some visible scratches. irregular blemishes. amateurish touch-ups and the off side panel has lost its sheen. This scooter comes with the rear rack (adjustable. depending on the size of picnic basket or tent you plan to use) and a spare wheel.  The rack is beginning to rust and the spare white wall tyre is losing some of its white.  I am not insured so the scooter is currently on SORN and stuck in the back of my garage. hence my reason for selling.  I no longer have the time or interest to continue with the plans and dreams I once had for this beautiful example of post-war engineering.   I'm sure that someone out there would be willing to take it on.  If you think you are that person then give me a bell. While this 1954 Lambretta LD 125 is exempt from Tax & MOT's I would suggest that any new owner should consider having it tested before using it on the public roads.  When taking the pictures yesterday I noticed that the back tyre walls are cracking (through being stood idle). there is oil where the exhaust exits the cylinder barrel (think it needs some exhaust paste on the threads) and the back bulb has blown. Overall. this is a tidy and solid example of these rare and stylish Lambrettas.  It needs work and could be a relatively simple project for someone with a passion for. and knowledge of. LD's.  When ever someone sees this scooter they invariably ask "What's it worth?".  Well. that is subjective. if nobody wants to buy it well then it is not worth anything.  However. if you want to buy it you will know exactly what it is worth to you. A Lambretta LD125 recently sold on here for £4. 51.  Another. a complete basket case without documents. etc. fetched £1. 96.  I believe that I have realistically priced mine at £2. 95.  If you are interested come and see for yourself.  Any inspection welcome. As this is a private sale of a 60 years old vintage vehicle and I am not a mechanic there is no guarantee. implied or otherwise. given.  That saying. if you are in the market for a classic Lambretta LD125 then this one is definitely worth viewing.
