Description

For sale is my 1995 Moto Guzzi Strada. MOT valid until July 2015. I have had this bike since 2006. and in all that time I have grown to love it. The time has come when I need to move on – I really want a touring bike now. Anyone who has owned a Guzzi will know the riding experience is different with one of these machines – you feel more involved somehow – if you haven't owned one. I recommend you try it! You can't beat the deep rumble of the V-Twin engine in my opinion.

Anyway. to the details. It has just over 19500 KM on the clock. which is about 12000 miles. nothing for a Guzzi engine. and works out at an average of only 600 miles a year. It is in regular but occasional use so the mileage may increase slightly over the next few weeks.

Engine – It runs great. starts first time. just needs a few minutes to warm up before being ridden. I had the carbs balanced at last years MOT. It pulls happily through the rev range. although I don't generally like to test that too often! At just above idle revs there is the usual V-twin vibration that disappears as revs increase. I have done regular oil and filter changes using the manufacturers recommended products.

Electrics – There are two modifications I have made. otherwise electrics are gremlin free. Firstly one of the twin Motoplat ignition units failed a couple of years ago. and I replaced these with a single unit from Ignitech. and there has been no ignition issues since. Secondly I rewired the headlamp last year to improve the brightness. fitting a relay inside the headlamp unit. and this made night riding a safer experience.

Bodywork - I have garaged it the whole time. except for one year when it was outside under a cover. Unfortunately the paintwork suffered a little in this period. as the photographs show. The side panels are plastic in construction so there is no rust there. The Fast Bike sticker on the RHS panel was on the bike when I acquired it. and I have left it on. assuming it hid some paint damage. The tank has small pimples which appeared during its time stored outside. but they are only noticeable on close inspection. I have tried my best to show these imperfections on the photos. The chrome does show slight pitting in places. mainly because I haven't given it any attention since last summer. An annual chrome clean has been all it's really needed to keep it in order. The chromework extends to the bar ends. indicator stalks. rear brake lever and gear change lever. crash bars. headlamp and instrument cowls. The right hand side exhaust has a small dent. but this is not visible except under close inspection.

Over the years it has sailed through its MOT's without any advisories. except in 2012 when a new tyre was needed. and 2011 when the front brakes needed attention. Other than the above mentioned issues this bike has been a joy to own and ride. and I will be sad to see it go. If I had enough space I would be keeping it.

The screen is easy to remove should you prefer the naked look. Overall the bike is in fair to good condition for its age. and I would be happy for anyone to inspect it. It is a very rare bike. as far as I am aware there is only one other in the UK. so this is a chance to acquire an (almost) totally original honest example which can only increase in value as the years pass.
