This motorcycle was a very nicely running 1975 Moto Guzzi 850T that I started to convert to a V7 Sport Replica. It is a matching numbers bike and the original headstock tag is in very nice condition. I bought it about five years ago with approximately 36,000 miles on it. I started on the conversion right after I bought it, ut got distracted by other projects and set it aside after working on it on and off for about a year. It has been sitting in my garage ever since. I’ve got way too much money in it and no time to finish it. I need the space so it’s time for it to go.
When I started the conversion process, stripped the bike and painted the frame. The engine was gone through with new seals, op end inspected (all good, urns over nicely, ompression cold R-120psi, -125psi on my gauge). Most fasteners were replaced with stainless steel ones. New hoses were installed with new crush washers. The wiring harness was renewed with new molex connectors between the headlight and main harness. The unreliable Guzzi left switch was replaced by one from a Suzuki 750, olished and wired with a molex connector. I retained the 850T headlight for ease of wiring and had the headlight ring rechromed. The V7 headlight mounting brackets were installed to go with the new V7 swan neck handlebars. I chose to keep the twin discs as they are very effective (and late V7 Sports came with twin discs). The tool boxes were modified to accept V7 Sport covers but the new polished aluminum covers still need to be fitted. The original Borrani rims were polished with chrome spokes. New wheel bearings and new tires were installed (the rear has about 80 miles on it as I put it on and rode the bike a bit before I started the conversion process). I’ve purchased many new parts for it including the swan neck handlebars, olished aluminum side covers for the tool boxes and polished aluminum gas tank (imported from Italy).
The bike still needs some fitting of components including the seat, ail light, nd side covers. Additional minor final fitting of thegas tank, minor wiring, rakes bled, tc. also needs to be done. I would get everything to final fit and then go through the whole bike one more time, s I’ve honestly forgotten what was final tightened, orqued, tc., nd what was not. Basically, t needs a full going over but just about everything you need to finish it should be there. There are some miscellaneous parts included that are not on the bike along with a V7 Sport parts book (see pics). The bike has a clean Arizona title ready to be transferred into your name.
