Description

1970 Norton Commando 750cc Roadster

Here is a fine example of a basically original unrestored 1970 Norton Commando Roadster 750cc.

The bike starts easily & runs beautifully. There is no mechanical noise and no smoke. The carbs have been ultra-sonically cleaned and are in tune.

The bike goes really well as Commandos normally do! It has excellent brakes front and rear (the TLS full width front is superb. much nicer than the early disc).

Handling in general is great . gearbox and clutch all good.

Speedometer & rev counter are both in good working order. The charging system is working well.

This is a very comfortable & smooth bike to ride.

The bike comes with V5C registration document. registration DRS 167H.

Frame number 135643. engine number 20M3S 135643. gearbox number 135643.

There is an MOT until June 2015. recorded mileage is only 28160 and although this cannot be guaranteed or proven it is most probably correct given the good original condition of the bike. It is registered as Historic (free) Road Tax.

Cosmetically the bike is in fine unrestored condition. The tank and sides have been recently repainted but in general the bike is ?ˆ?unmolested?ˆ?.

The paint on the frame is mostly good & original but it is showing age in places were it has been rubbed thin or chipped. (eg bottom rails. ) Notable the swinging arm and rear end though are all very good.

The wheel rims are excellent original Dunlops. The spokes are original too I would say. They are dull but not corroded.

Tyres are both as new looking Avon Road-Runners.

The cylinder barrel has no broken fins but one of the small fins on the left side of the head near the exhaust port has been shortened. This is not really noticeable unless you look extremely carefully!

The seat is very good possibly still the original. The exhaust downpipes are sound but quite dull. probably originals. The silencers are excellent chrome and are probably more recent replacements.

All in all this is a very good up & running early 750cc Commando . on the road & ready for fun this autumn.

It?ˆ™s nice to find what I believe to be a genuine low mileage example that has probably never been taken apart.

Don?ˆ™t miss this opportunity to own the top award winning bike of the early 1970?ˆ™s!
