1960/1961 NORTON Manxman – Up for sale is a 1960/1961 Norton Manxman 650cc twin motorcycle brought back from the grave. This was purchased as ‘once a runner’ box of parts with matching frame. engine. Re-assembled. bought new seat. head rebuilt be a local shop and she started right up with a little tuning. When deciding if I should tear her down for a complete restoration or apply lipstick (tune her up nice) work called me for an overseas assignment and I jumped. Been sitting for almost 5 year in my garage and its time to pass her on to someone who will pamper and ride this rare classic. I believe this is the first year of the 650 twin production (646cc). Frame and engine read 18 94449 (see photos). This serial is difficult to put a finger on because it’s a rare unit. The #18 references all 650 Twins and the serial number #94449 indicates 1960/1961. This bike needs TLC – tank. tin. fenders have minor dents and nicks but very functional. Battery needs replacing for certain and the small oil seepage when sitting when last running - easy fixes as these are typical seal and backflow. In one of the photos you can see the original polychromatic blue paint on the petrol tank underside. This is not the factory provided dual carb - it is equipped with a single from a later model commando to get running. Handlebars and seat also known aftermarket commando style. The bike was in pieces when I bought it – the bike did not have registration when I bought it from back country in Arizona and does not include registration papers. Simple enough with your local highway patrol but something you will have to attend to. Again. it does not have registration and unknown when / where last registered. I’ve tried to be as honest and upfront about the bike. I’ve included a number of photos so you have a good idea of condition. These were taken after a quick wash so the liquid on the ground is water not oil :). The bike is available for viewing in San Jose. California by appointment and I am available all week and weekend. Shipping or local pickup will be the responsibility and at the cost of the winning bidder. I don’t have a truck but will do what I can to assist with transporting to local shipping center that you find. $500 deposit due within 48 hours via Paypal to deter poachers.
