If you are looking at this Motorcycle you know that Peter Williams won the Isle of Man in 1973 on a Norton Command 750 race bike. It was one of many races this marque has won. The 850 Commando was introduced that year to the public. This 850 model was one of the 3 fastest super bikes of the world in 1973. I could go on about the accolades and successful racing history of the marque. The Norton twin is the quintessential British motorcycle to own. As a collector I hunted for this bike until I found the right one you will not be disappointing if you have the winning bid on this Norton. This bike was restored in California but never driven. I have all the records of the restoration. I have owned the Norton about 5 years and seldom use it. It has been kept in climate controlled storage for many many years and it shows. The paint job is second to none. The gold lettering and pin striping is perfect. It is applied under the clear coat. The paint job of the tank and the side covers cost over $1500. The engine as all mechanics have been rebuilt. You can see by the pics that there are no broken fins on the engine. In the past few months I have changed all the fluids in the bike. I have cleaned both float bowls changed the gaskets and the carb jets. I have also rebuilt the front disc brake with Stainless Steel pistons and have rebuilt the master cylinder. I changed the rubber front brake line to a stainless steel line with proper couplings to give a better brake feel this is the only change from original stock design. I have also coated the steel tank with POR -15 tank coat. The steel tank was without leaks but I wanted a cleaner tank. I have also replaced all chain case gaskets. The Norton starts and runs excellent. It is not a bike for the faint of heart as you know it is a kick start only and thee shift is on the right old school. At 64 my right knee is not what it used to be and I have decided it is time to let this great bike go to someone who will ride it more than me. My Norton comes with a tool roll the front brake tool and the chain case tool. It also comes with several service and tuning publications.I encourage inspections and questions. I will help with shipping in any way that I can and can arrange shipping to your door at your cost. I will not let the bike go until I have all funds associated with the sale.Good luck bidding.
