Description

This is a 1969 Norton Commando 750 S. Matching numbers 1320xx. I bought this as a project bike but have gone a different route. I was told the bike had been in storage for 20 plus years. The fiberglass tank had been drained of gas and I believe it has never seen ethanol which makes it a great candidate for a protective coating .

We put in new oil checked the carbs and points and she started and sounded great. NO weird knocks etc. Peaking into the cylinders we could read what looked like .040 over pistons. The tops were clean. But it would be crazy for the new buyer not to open her up and check things out.

The front brake is a Buffalo GT750 4ls that has been lightened. It appears and feels like it‘s working well although I’ve never had her on the street to really check. The vent screens are missing and the tabs to mount these have been removed.

Checked the cam and it seems to have a .020 higher lift on the inlet than the exhaust which might make it a Combat cam. Compression is around 140psi on each piston.

The transmission clicks through the gears but again I haven’t had it on the road.

The frame had a hole in the bottom tube (kickstand) which I had repaired by the person who does repairs on Seeley racing frames so it was done by an expert and is now totally strong and smooth. An anti-rust compound was prayed into the tube before welding. There is a new aftermarket bolt-on sidestand installed. Otherwise the frame appears straight and sound. BUT I cannot guarantee it is straight.

I am selling this “as is” with no warranty whatsoever. The buyer should NOT consider this a road worthy bike but rather a great candidate for a rebuild on a great Norton model.

I have in my possession a good stock front brake that has been rebuilt and skimmed. The front rim is Dunlop and in decent condition The winner of the auction will have the option to buy this for $400 plus shipping cost. I also have a steel tank that is authentic and not a repop. $500 plus shipping cost.

The bike has a clear transferable NY State registration in my name (Which is how NY does the title thing).

The buyer will be fully responsible for arranging shipping and I will help facilitate wherever I can. There is a loading dock available. Zip is 07310. Paypal accepted but sell adds fee.
