Description

This Norton was sold new local to me and has always been garage kept and owned by adults. The bike has kept all of it's original 1968 parts throughout it's entire life so it was a very easy restoration. It has never been crashed although we did have to remove a few scratches on the original mufflers before chroming. The bike comes with 2 gas tanks, he original fiberglass and a steel tank that modern fuel does not destroy. The fiberglass tank, ven when sealed, eaked. The bottom end of the engine is original and excellent. The cylinder head had been rebuilt by Long's Custom Machine and has very few miles. The engine runs very well. The frame is the original "widow maker" that has never cracked. It was stripped and inspected for cracks and straightness by Precision Chassis in Limerick PA. They then added the additional tube found on later frames and madeaccommodationfor the Andover head steady. as well as the later adjustable lower mounts. The gearbox had no obvious problems but wasdisassembledand had a bearing or 2 replaced. A new wiring harness was sourced from British Wiring even though the original was fairly good. The bike is fitted with a Boyer ignition. The rims are the original Dunlops with new chrome. The front brake is original and stops like a disc brake bike. This is the best brake I have ever had on an old bike including old disc brake bikes. This is a really great rare first year Commando restored to a high level. You will never find a better one. This Fastback is a classic that you can ride safely in modern traffic, r just look at. Sold as is. NO RESERVE!
