.......................................................

This matching numbers bike has an interesting history:

This 1975 Norton 850 MK III electric start was originally sold new in New York (as evidenced by paper work included in sale). It then was securely stored for many years. The owner then moved to Oregon—his whereabouts are not known. The second owner, hom we bought the bike from his estate, tored it in his living room for 7 years (was not married of course)! Since the first owner cannot be found and the second owner is deceased, ome of the history is not available. The ODO shows 1,645 miles but this cannot be 100% verified. However, t is believed to be a low mileage bike, s wear on the bike would seem to indicate. Some small additional millage may be added to the odometer in the transport from it's current location to where it will be temporarily be stored during the sale.

Original, eplaced, nd reconditioned:

This original bike was recently brought back to running order after prolonged storage to make it safe to ride. Any parts replaced, ere all sourced from Andover Norton. Only genuine Norton factory parts were used if available. The wiring is as it left the factory and there is no evidence of any modifications made to the bike, t appears to be a very nice unmolested original example Detailing work and Safety items replaced or rebuilt include:

• Front master brake cylinder rebuild. • New front and rear brake hoses.

• New Avon tires and tubes.

• New OEM fuel lines.

• Amal carbs rebuilt.

• New battery.

• All fluids changed including engine oil and filter, rimary oil, earbox oil, rake fluid and front forks oil.

• Meticulous polishing and detailing without “restoring” the bike were undertaken to accomplish as close as possible the factory-delivered, riginal condition.

Please look closely at the detailed photos. This is not a “museum” perfect bike, t has been ridden — it is a used bike built 40 years ago! There are a few scratches from wear and the front fender has a small ding in it (barely perceptible). A small scrape on the tank was professionally repaired and is slightly evident upon close inspection — candy color is very difficult to blend-in and match. Other than that, s far as we know the frame, ank and side covers are the original factory paint. We have tried to described the condition of this bike as accurately as possible, nd provided all the history that is known to us.

Contact the owner to answer any questions you might have. See Contact information at the very end of this description.

From Mick Duckworth's book "Norton Commando" concerning the MKIII starters as factory supplied. As far as we know this motorcycle starts right up and runs well. We have started it once and it will be started again and the carburetors tuned. They have been completely rebuilt and will need dialing-in when we start it after the sale. There don't appear to be any fluid leeks.
