1968 Norton 750cc Atlas
Frame number 118057
Engine number 20/125600/P
First seen in prototype form in 1962, he 745cc Atlas represented the biggest stretch yet applied to Norton’s parallel twin. Built for export only initially - UK market deliveries commenced late in 1964 - the Alas was fundamentally a larger-engined version of the existing 650SS, sing the same Featherbed frame/Roadholder fork cycle parts.
The example offered here hails from the last year of 750cc Atlas production, 968, nd has been in the same ownership since 1970. Fresh from service, he bike runs very well. Easy to start, t idles well and has a strong and tight feel to the engine. The bike shifts through all gears well and all cycle parts have been gone through, ncluding the Roadholder forks, ommando front disc brake, tandard rear brake and all electrical. The bike was fitted with aftermarket Domiracer clocks in the 1970s and Lucas electronic ignition.
It is a good, resentable bike. There are a fair number of scratches & scuffs, ut it isn’t a garage queen. It was built to ride, eminiscent of the great caf? racers of the ‘50s and ‘60s, nd goes well.
The bike retains its blue California license plate from 1970 and is in non-op status, o no fees are due to a California buyer, nd comes with a clean clear California old-style pink slip for a title.
A great bike, n great riding condition.
