Description

1952 NORTON ES2. 500CC BARN-FIND RUNNING RESTORATION PROJECT WITH V5C

Here is a cracking winter project!

An easy to start sweet running matching number ES2 with V5C registration doc.

It is basically a sound original bike that needs either a complete rebuild to concours or possibly just a recommissioning job to get back on the road in ride/restore ?ˆ?shabby-chic?ˆ?style.

The engine is a good starter and sounds great mechanically. It doesn?ˆ™t smoke  either so I expect the engine itself will need little more than cosmetic attention and a good service

I have actually managed to ride the bike up the track (despite it having a flat back tyre). The gears and clutch are OK and I think the brakes are OK too. The Smith?ˆ™s chronometric speedometer is working. There is no charging because there is no wiring on the bike!

The bike comes with V5C . registration number is YVL 580 (not marked as non transferable). Date of registration is 9th June 1952. Frame number is G4 45674. engine number 45674 G4. Gearbox number is G101-10386

This bike is cosmetically best described as a project! It is all pretty scruffy but not so bad that it couldn?ˆ™t be cleaned up a bit and made into a nice useable old-bike.

The paintwork is all dull but sound. There are no signs of  rot. Rims are poor with little chrome in evidence at all but they look sound enough to use. Spokes look sound too. Tyres are TT100 front & rear. Front looks very good rear looks unworn but old. (& flat)There are two or three minor chips off the barrel top fins and a tiny chipped fin on the head (hardly noticeable).

This is a terrific starting point for an ES2 rebuild. It starts & runs well and has matching numbers and all its original tinware. Don?ˆ™t miss this prime restoration project!
