Vintage Norton 16H 500cc Sv Rigid Teles Motorcycle Fully Restored. Good Runner

For auction is a really nice Norton 16H from 1946 which is rigid with teles and on a dolls eye type gearbox. The bike has been fully restored and been sat unused in a private collection. Its. not been used as its not currently registered. The bike starts and runs well and seems to be in excellent condition. lights work fine etc. The only actual minor fault appears to be that the charging is intermittent. working one moment then not the next. I suspect the reg box is badly adjusted or sticking. The bike is not matching numbers. but heres the story. The bike comes with its original buff log book. so the original number will be recoverable. probably on a none transferable basis. but you should get the original registration number back. So. the engine change from the matching numbers is mentioned in the original buff log book and stamped and initialled by the council area it was in at the time. Additionally. there is a note stamped on the log book stating that before these dates it was the property of the government. So. to translate this for you. or at least guess whats happened. I. guess that this was owned by the ministry of defence or similar. where they routinely swapped engines about. and the new engine number was recorded when the bike was sold for civilian use. Therefore this bike has been with this engine from early in its life and that is reflected in the buff book. Or the bike had a blow up early on and the new number was recorded early in its life. it can only be one of those two scenarios. So. thats a rather long winded story. but I had t cover it as its important you know these details up front. The bike its self is in excellent condition. has had lots spent and simply requires registering now for use. Viewing is welcome. 01246 411977 for an appointment.
