1966 Norton Triton Motorcycle
You are bidding on a Custom built Triton Motorcycle.
This Triton has been under construction for the past three years.
I love building them but with texting. drunks and people who refuse to see riders. I stopped riding on the street. Here is your chance to have a one off classic without the headache of trying to remember to shift on the right.
Frame
1966 Norton Slimline Featherbed bed frame. Bike comes complete with original
Norton engine cases. Clear Tennessee Title.
Frame is painted Kaki metallic base coat/clear coat
Engine
Triumph Bonneville 750 CC engine. Engine Numbers NN6403X. This makes this a 1976 Bonneville Engine.
The engine came from a low mileage motorcycle that sat too long. The pistons were stuck at the bottom of the stroke. After some soaking and a gentle rap. the pistons were freed from the bore. I was going to bore it . 010 over but found a new old stock cylinder assembly. The engine remains at stock bore with new pistons and rings.
Cylinder head looked perfect but was sent out for a valve grind to make sure.
Connecting rods had no slop and knowing it was low mileage. the engine was not split open.
Cases were polished by the Chrome Shop with new badging.
Exhaust is big bore MDI with upswept mufflers.
Oil filter incorporated into oil return line to tank. This should prevent any additional sludge trap buildup that plaques most Triumphs and require major break down to correct. Standard off the shelf spin on oil filter canister.
Carburetion
New Amal Premier 930 Concentric carburetors with screened velocity stacks
New choke and throttle cables
Front Suspension
1972 Suzuki GT 750 front fork assembly modified to fit the Norton Featherbed neck.
Steering neck modified to taper roller bearings.
Bike has the desired 4 leading shoe drum brake assembly.
Front tire is Dunlap Roadmaster. The tire is old and should be replaced.
New hard chromed fork tubes and seals imported from Japan.
New old stock Suzuki clutch and brake levers
Chrome plated upper triple tree
All Suzuki factory bolts rechromed
Stainless steel spokes
Caf?© racer billet clip ons with Tomacelli grips. Very nice feel
Very early Honda dip switch and horn button NOS
Lucas PL700 tribar headlamp mounted to an aftermarket headlamp bucket.
Headlamp is mounted to the forks using Norton Colorado billet mounting ears.
Front tire came with the Suzuki 4LS brake drum. Tire appears to be old and I would replace. Although the tire looks new. I do see a little cracking at the bottom of some of the treads.
I have not installed rear view mirrors. Mounts are there on the Suzuki levers but I just have not found a set that I liked. Here is your opportunity to find the seat that suits you.
Rear Suspension
Triumph Bonneville rear wheel assembly with Disc brake.
I know you purists will balk at the disc but I opted for left hand shift and the disc
Brake worked out well for this application.
Dunlop wheel rechromed and laced with Stainless steel spokes
New Dunlop Roadmaster tire
Yamaha R6 rear sets with master cylinder for improved braking.
Ignition and Electrics
Branson Boyer Micro Power solid state ignition
Ballistic EVO2 8 cell Lithium Performance battery
Late model Triumph horn
Brake light works from both front and rear brake
Custom wire harness
Fuel and oil Tank
Custom made aluminum lyta fuel tank made in England. Quick release filler
Center fuel tap. No reserve for low fuel.
Clubman quick release tank hold down with stainless strap and rubber isolator.
Oil Tank is custom aluminum with quick release oil filler at seat cutout
Seat
Clubman caf?© racer seat with clubman mounting hardware.
Fenders
Modified BSA
Overall
This is a very well executed Motorcycle. No short cuts were taken in the construction. Parts are either new or excellent condition originals.
The Featherbed frame is world famous for rigidity and handling.
All Cables are new except the Suzuki brake cables. which were in excellent condition.
This motorcycle is a new build and has no miles. The ignition timing has not been strobed but is set up per Branson and Triumph Factory instructions.
I chose the left hand shift arrangement in this construction as most riders today are unfamiliar with right hand shift. left hand rear brake early (pre 1974) bikes and in a panic situation. you may find you only down shifted rather than stop.
It?ˆ™s rolling art and would look good in the garage. den or displayed at a business.
