Description

I?ˆ™m selling my 1973 Norton Commando. rebuilt in true caf?© style. with modern upgrades. Century Motorcycles in San Pedro has done most of the maintenance as well as rebuilt the motor about three years ago. The bike has ?±30k original miles and only about 800 miles on the new rebuild. Jay LaRossa. a frequently featured bike builder in caf?© racer magazine. did the paint?ˆ¦a masterful. vintage aged look with painted Norton badges. The idea was to make it look like it had been on the racetrack for 50 years and it harkens back to the Norton race-winning heyday.

The bike runs great & starts easy. in part because of the many upgrades including: a pro-arc digital ignition. Single carb conversion kit with larger AMAL carb from Clubman Racing. performance air cleaner and updated voltage regulator and rectifier. The circuitry was converted to 12v negative ground. which makes the ability to use aftermarket pieces more readily available.

Modifications to the frame and oiling include a custom fabricated center oil reservoir. which really cleans up the engine compartment and shows off the beautiful original lines of the cast aluminum engine covers. The rear hoop was shortened. the fender dropped down over the rear wheel a bit. brake light. battery. and ignition switch relocated and a billet aluminum piece was fabricated to attach the rear fender without the bulky plastic original brake light assembly. The front seat is custom fabricated using the original seat pan and the front handlebars are caf?© style which really lowers the profile of the bike overall and feels great on the twisties. The original tach has been converted to an electronic version and the original speedo works great. I have an oil pressure sensor gauge and voltmeter mounted in the cowling but never got around to hooking up the sensors for them. The front fairing is an extensively modified full fairing. also purchased from Clubman Racing. which was shaped to fit the bike and a front headlight capability added. The bike has the ability to run with or without the fairing and looks cool either way. just takes about 10 minutes and four bolts to convert over.

The original fiberglass tank is intact and has been re-glassed on the outside as well as coated in the inside to be compatible with new fuel mixes.

Tires are about a year old and practically new. brakes pads have been replaced. new fuel petcocks. and a quick twist throttle added. The exhaust is new with 6?ˆ? shorty mufflers. which I love for its uncorked thump.

The Norton runs and drives great and has given me great pleasure zipping around on Mulholland Dr. and PCH but it?ˆ™s time to pass to baton on to the next affectionato. This bike never ceases to garner a great amount attention at any bike get together ?ˆ“ it?ˆ™s really fun to see how popular it is. Everything on this bike was done to an extraordinary standard. As it sits in its completed form. it is a wonderful and unique caf?© build like no other.

Feel free to contact me with specific questions if you have any or if I can offer any additional information about the bike. I'm happy to help the buyer with shipping arrangements however all shipping costs would be by the buyer.
