Description

1970 NORTON 750 COMMANDO FASTBACK - AUTHENTIC - ORIGINAL AND VERY RARE - KNOWN HISTORY This is VIN# 20M3S138935; a fully reconditioned rider. in amazing original condition. It's out of a collection. a deceased estate in British Columbia. Documented ownership shows the 1st owner transferring title in 1978 to the second owner. who passed away in 1988 - the Norton was then sold by Robin's Classics to the guy I bought it from. I purchased this motorcycle in April 2009. When I got it it was not running as well as I would like. Whenever I purchase a classic motorcycle. I have it inspected thoroughly before riding it any distance. This one needed some attention. the isolastics seemingly had never been replaced. as well the engine was running a little rough. I took the Norton to the local specialist. in Redmond. WA. The proprietor is a well respected character in the classic British motorcycle business. and has a long history going back to working for the Triumph/BSA dealer in Seattle. He thoroughly looked over the Norton and it was determined that to make it an absolutely reliable rider it would need to be taken apart and rebuilt. Almost immediately the work began. it was taken down to the frame and all isolastics replaced. all rubber parts. bushings. mounting parts. brakes overhauled. fuel lines replaced. new battery and miscellaneous items fixed. oiled. greased etc. all shown on the invoices (the first invoice totaled $2. 99. 81). After this work was done. I rode it and decided that I wanted the engine to be completely rebuilt. so almost $4. 00 later. it had a beautiful engine. running perfectly.  Truly an amazing machine that can be ridden anywhere trouble free. I liked the patina of the frame. side covers. rear fender and tank so I left that all alone. Something about an original looking classic motorcycle. well maintained is very engaging. it is a riders motorcycle and set-up that way. For example. I had the turn signal indicators replaced with modern units. little black plastic units that are a snug fit up to the front light and rear fender; very practicable indeed. The original turn indicators are clumsy looking on long chrome stalks with large orange orbs at the end. although original type (lucas new replacement part) turn signal indicators will convey with the Norton. All invoices for work performed will convey with the motorcycle.  I hold a clean and clear Washington title. The motorbike comes with a few spares. gaskets etc. as well as the original rider's manual; I think this is very rare also? This Norton. representing a true and unmolested original Fastback. is a rarity. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the motorcycle is offered for sale locally. Please only bid if you are serious about buying the motorcycle. If you would like to discuss the motorbike you can feel free to contact me at 415-533-0998.
