1981 Moto Morini 3 1/2

We are very pleased to have recently bought a Moto Morini 3 ?. The 3 ? was originally launched in 1974. when its V-twin 350cc engine was considered a ground breaking design for a motorbike. The basis of the new design was an entirely new 72 degree V-twin with Heron combustion cylinder heads. It was the first time that such an engine had been used in a series production motorcycle. The bike was introduced in two guises. the Strada and the Sport. with the Sport having minor cosmetic differences and around 4 extra bhp. Both models were enthusiastically received by the public. and developed a reputation for both reliability and excellent handling. Our bike is a 1981 version. which benefits from the electric start that was introduced in the late 1970s. The bike is in very original condition. and. according to the speedometer has travelled only 8500 miles during its life. We bought the bike from a resident of Seaford in Sussex. who himself acquired it from a Mr Hedges. who worked for Kennards Motorcycle Suppliers of Seaford. Mr Hedges apparently used the bike as his own ride. We have MOT certificates going back to 2003 which show the bike having travelled 5. 02 at that time. We also have the original owner’s manual. a parts book. and a number of special tools. The bike itself starts easily either with the electric start or the kickstart. and runs and rides as it should. The current MOT expires at the end of June 2015 as does the road tax. This is a highly original bike that could either be enjoyed as it is. or could be restored to a high standard with relatively little work.
