mobylette autocycle motobecane - not raleigh- 12 months mot - very original

For sale is a 1977  Mobylette 'Moby'  40v (Cady M3PRT)- registration YUY 988R.   MoT and V5 present.

First registered in June 1977 this mobylette has had a total of 7 owners (including myself) - although it doesn't have any type of speedometer on it thus not being able to give an accurate millage report. I believe that from new the bike has covered very few miles one of the reasons behind my thinking so is that the condition of the bike and its engine. suggests signs of little use. However even though it may not have had much use on the road i am told by the previous owner that it was run up to temperature occasionally to keep all the mechanicals in good order.

 An original owners manual/ service manual is included in the sale- see pics.

Overall condition:

The bike starts easily and any smoke is minimal- although the starting procedure can be a little exerting at times! (the bike has to be pedalled along  to around  3mph which at that point the automatic clutch kicks in and the engine starts to turn) the drive belt seems to be in good condition as do the rest of the mechanicals.

The paintwork is in good original condition but as can be expected for a nearly 40 year old bike there are some stone chips and blemishes- there are also a few bits of surface rust. these are only small spots which can be seen in the picture

The chrome work is also in good condition for its age with only very light pitting on some parts.   All this said the bike looks very respectable from a few paces away.  

Good points :

Good mechanical condition and starts easily

Brakes work and are effective

Both front and rear lights work as they should

Horn functions as intended

The bike should be tax free within a few years (under the governments current rolling exemption scheme)

The number plate is worth a couple of hundred pounds on its own.

MoT just passed. no advisories (7/3/2016 expiry

New tyres fitted

New handle bar rubber grips (Moby branded) just fitted

Comes with a Motobecane Cady M3 PRT / PRTS parts booklet  (in French)

Not so good points:

It is missing the engine side covers (these are no too hard to find in my opinion)

The front light lens has a small crack on it.  

The moped will be sold with current v5 logbook - to be transferred into new owners name

A full receipt will also be given

Will only accept offers close to the asking price of ?500
