It's a great story -- 2 vintage bike enthusiasts decide to start their own motorcycle company in Indiana, anus Motorcycles, oing the "Made in America with pride" thing. I pre--ordered mine in December 2012 and took delivery in July 2013. As you can see, t's the 5th one off their line. It's a 6--speed, stroke 50 cc engine, nd has got less than 200 miles on it. It has sat, overed, n my garage for most of the past 2 years as I rarely ride it.
It's the only one in Florida (and probably in many other states), s a great conversation piece and fun to ride!

Hand-Crafted in America

The design and manufacturing process developed by Janus in northern Indiana is focused on the highest level of design, uality, nd performance. This approach mandates a motorcycle different from any others made today and guarantees a fundamental simplicity of operation and maintenance, aking possible a closer relationship between owner and machine. All fabricated parts of our motorcycles are made within about 20 miles of our facility with specialty cast parts such as the engine, ront suspension and wheels sourced from leading suppliers.

Janus Motorcycles is a federally licensed vehicle manufacturer. Each bike is supplied to the dealer road legal with a 17-digit VIN and Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin.

ABOUT THE BIKE
The Halcyon 50 Deluxe is our limited edition model, porting the extra options available for the Halcyon. The Deluxe model seen above features the small leather saddlebags, olished aluminum tanks, hromed exhaust, ustom frame paint, ngraving, nd more.

Everything is designed and built by hand in and around our home-town of Goshen, ndiana, ncluding the frame, uel tank, enders, xhaust system, eather seat and saddlebags, andlebars, in-striping, iring harness, nd all the additional elements that make up the complete motorcycle. We use rims and brakes manufactured to our specifications, BR hydraulic forks, nd a great Spanish-designed 2-stroke motor. The highly upgradable engine is a water-cooled 6-speed unit based on the Derbi Senda and produces about 10 hp in stock form. Every bike comes with both kick and electric start, s well as an oil injection system. Turn indicators, igh and low beam, peedometer, irrors, nd a top speed of 55mph ensure safe operation on all but limited access highways.

• Rigid tubular steel cradle frame: Each “featherbed” frame is hand-bent and welded to exacting standards with our proprietary tooling.

• Hand-formed aluminum fuel and oil tanks: The Halcyon features complex, owder coated tanks and battery box that are hand-formed from high-quality 14 gauge aluminum sheet and steel.

• Hand-made leather seat and battery cover: The Halcyon 50 comes equipped with handsome leather seat and battery cover.

• State-of-the-art, -speed, ater-cooled, ase-inducted, -stroke single: Our engines provide surprising power, cceleration, nd top speed for such a small unit.

• Hydraulic front suspension: The Halcyon 50 features hydraulically damped EBR forks for a smooth ride.

• Powder Coated tuned expansion chamber exhaust system: The Halcyon 50 and Halcyon 50 Basic are fitted with carefully tuned performance expansion chambers for added power.

• Center stand lock: The Halcyon is equipped with a center stand lock point on the right side of the bike. This point is designed for use with an approved motorcycle lock and keeps the center stand in the down position with the wheel raised.

• Top speed of 55mph.

It is easily installed and all necessary mounting hardware is included in the kit. $250

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I’m 6’6” and weigh over 200 lbs. Is a Halcyon still an option for me?
Absolutely, he Halcyon was designed to fit all sizes of riders. In terms of acceleration and hill-climbing, eavier riders will only experience slight loss of speed and response.

My neighbors already think I’m a nutter and are looking for a reason to have me evicted. How loud is the Halcyon?
The Halcyon 50 is equipped with an air box and silencer. If you can refrain from performing donuts or burnouts you should be fine. The Halcyon is slightly louder then a vintage Vespa, ut much quieter than many larger bikes.

I live in California, here two-strokes are banned. Can I buy one of your motorcycles?

Yes, ou can buy a Janus motorcycle, owever, ou will likely have trouble registering it in California. We are working to figure out a solution for California customers.

I like the idea of the Halcyon, ut want a bit more power. Do you provide any performance upgrades?
There are a number of options for customers looking for additional performance. We supply a tuned, igh-performance exhaust. There are a number of other readily available upgrades on the market including bolt-on larger cylinders, arger carburetors, tc. At this time, e do not install cylinder kits or performance carbs. Upgrading any engine component will have an impact on the reliability of your machine and therefore void your engine warranty, owever we build each performance engine to exacting specifications and promise that you will enjoy your high-performance Halcyon.

Do I have to mix the oil and gas?

No, he Halcyon is equipped with an oil injector which regulates the fuel/oil mixture as you ride. All you need to do is maintain the oil level in the reservoir (the round tank below the fuel tank and near the seat).
