Description

This is a rare opportunity to purchase a complete and running example of this iconic piece of German motorcycle history. I've owned this bike for years and I'm selling it reluctantly but I have another project punching a large hole in my wallet at present! This bike has the famous "Ultramax" over head cam system driven by two connecting rods. It is the only motorcycle in history to use this system. It makes for a very quiet running engine.
The bike starts easily with a firm kick on the left-hand kicker. The engine runs sweetly with very little mechanical noise and the transmission shifts through all four gears without trouble. The paint work was done a while ago and there are some small touch-ups on the black paint which I tried to show in the photos. The chrome on the tank is original and although it is in very presentable condition, here are some small imperfections that I tried to show as well. The area around the fuel filler has been slightly dented in like something fell on the cap. I didn't even notice this for about a year of owning the bike but I wanted to mention it. I took this bike apart and had the front frame, ir cleaner cover and tool/battery boxes professionally painted. The rest of the paint looked presentable enough to leave it alone. The engine was running when I got the bike but I took the top end apart to make sure everything was in good condition inside. The rod bearing checked out fine and the piston was still in very good condition so new rings and a honing were all that were needed. I lapped the valves which were also in excellent condition. New top end gaskets were installed. The steering head bearings have been inspected and greased. The hubs and all of the other aluminum bright work have been professionally polished. New parts include: Spokes, ims and tires(tubes), xhaust system with an original style three-piece muffler($$), ir cleaner rubber boot, eat cover, ank top rubber strip, ool box locks(keyed the same),cables, andle bars, rips. Missing parts are the horn and the de-compressor lever/cable. These parts are available as are almost every other part of the bike from NSU Motzke in Germany. They have an English language version of their website. Although the horn is missing, he button on the handlebar and all of the wiring is in place to hook it up. It has been tested and is ready to hook up. These bikes do not need the de-compressor hooked up to start the bike like some of the larger Japanese singles. A previous owner had the ability to do metal casting and made the missing front fender crest. Not bad for working from a photo! I consider it a piece of folk art that is part of the bike's history that I tried to capture in the photos. If you don't agree, new one can be had. Shipping is completely the responsibility of the buyer but I will assist in any way I can from my end once the buyer contacts me with details.I can haul the bike to theDavenport show over Labor Day weekendfor $100. The bike must be paid for in full with a certified bank check or money order within 7 days of the auction close. The bike doesn't leave my possession until the form of payment clears. Folks with less than 5 feedbacks are not permitted to bid on this bike. Nothing personal, 'm just not taking the risk because of bad experiences in the past. Please look at the photos carefully and feel free to call me with any questions you should have. Mike (612)-816-7373
