That the 'dawn of motoring' took place in France is a fact where not manypeople are familiar with..
Originally a bicycle manufacturer, dmond Gentil set up shop in Neuilly, eine France around 1890,addingmotorcycleproduction to his activities in 1902 and that of motor cars in 1906. Gentil's productsweremarketedunderthe 'Alcyon' name, eaning kingfisher. Various sizes of automobile were producedprior to WWI, fter whichthe firm concentrated on cyclecars until 1928 when it returned exclusively tothe manufacture of bicycles andmotorcycles.They competed already in the 1912 Isle of Man TT racesand the173cc Alcyon racingmodels won many races in the late 1920's and early 1930's.
Like the pictures are showing this rare fire resque motorcycle is after 64yearsstill in a fairly decent condition.
Before it landed in a collection of unusual antique motorcycles in the early 1980's,this machine has been in service for almost 30 years at a small local airfield inthe French Yonne-district (89) and has still the original decals on from the Auxerrebaseddealer where it was originally bought (see image).
Thepaint is not nice and showing many traces of age and use (patina),where the panelwork is showing after over six decades some light drysurface rust onplaces, arkings and a few dings etc.
The inside of the gas-tank is nice and clean, hus not rusted.The engine is turning over smoothly, s complete, as good compressionand appearsto bein a good and unmolested condition.
I was told that it was running really nice when put in storage, here backthen preservating oil was put oil in the engine, o don't think it will takemuchto getit going again.
This machine has never been road-registered and comes with an official European certificate of origin which states the make, odel, ear, isplacement, eight etc.and an official bill of sale from my company here in Belgium. Furthermore I’ll makesure that all the correct export-paperwork will be in place before the bike leaves from here, hich documents will make the process of importing it into the US an easy ride.-On this listing I’moffering a special (fully sealed) m'cycle crate, areful packing and physical shipping from here in Belgium to a US Cfs as close as possible to you at my expense.Please note; In case the bike needs to be shipped to another destination than the US, lease ask whether I can offer you such a deal as well before placing a bid (mostly thisis not a problem, ut then it’s always better tomake sure).
Furthermore, hen you want to receive some better photo's of the bike/shipping, r want to recieve more information about this item, ust let me know.
-Additional information to this listing;
