Pannonia motorcycles were produced by Csepel in Hungary from 1951 to 1975. A distant relation to Jawa they are not well known outside of Europe. In the sixties they were imported and sold in the US as White Motorcycles. Pannonia was fairly successful in European endurance racing. Placing fourth in the inaugural Bol d’ Or 24 hour race in 1956 with a 250cc 2-stroke, enefitted by their simple but strong design. Later on they went on to offer and race 250cc and 350cc twins, lso 2-stroke but the brand fell victim to Soviet politics.
This example is a 1968 250cc T5 with a Duna sidecar. It is a single cylinder 2-stroke running through a 4-speed gearbox. The very light aluminum sidecar, r chair as enthusiasts will call it, s aided by an adjustable ride height lever to add stability when the chair is unloaded. It is very nicely restored, unning and ridable. Winner of the People’s Choice award at the 2012 Bikes on the Bay show in Capitola (Santa Cruz), alifornia. We have notarized documentation from it's purchase at the MidAmerica Auction but not titled or registered it is sold on a Bill of Sale only. The odometer reads 23km and the auction documents show 14 but it is most likely the odometer was replaced during restoration. This does show how few miles were put on since the restoration and our subsequent purchase.Sold without warranty although I will ensure the bike starts and rides prior to shipping.
