Description

This is a 1956 NSU Prima scooter in very good condition.
It was imported from Europe just a few years ago. It has been re-painted but is otherwise in very original condition. The paint is decent with some minor chips and scratches here and there. There are a few rough spots in the paint most notably near the headlamp (see closeup picture) Overall the bike looks very nice. There is no rust or damage that I can find. I suspect it has not been ran much in the last few decades but the 2 stroke 1 cylinder 150cc engine starts easily and runs excellent. The tires are old but still quite usable. It has an electric start that works great (these bikes do not have a kick start). It has a new 12 volt battery and the charging system is working. There is a spare wheel and tire mounted under the luggage rack. The brakes work good although the front brake is a bit grabby and squeaky. The clutch works great and it shifts through its 3 speeds nicely. The mileage is 38987 km (24225 miles). The original seats are a bit rough but still comfortable and usable. The speedometer works well as does the charging light. The horn works. The lights are all working although the switch is a bit fidgety.
It comes with its original unusual looking key that is used to start the bike and also turn the fuel tap on and off.
It has not been licensed in the USA. It comes with a clear title from the Netherlands (where it was likely sold new) and some import paperwork.
Overall this is a pretty nice example of a fairly rare scooter that you can ride straight away. It's a great candidate for full restoration or quite enjoyable just as it is.
