This is a very rare 1917 Emblem Little Giant Motorcycle.
I have owned this motorcycle for just over 2 years and have done very little with it (as I have too many motorcycles and deteriorating health).
It isbelievedto be one of 15 motorcycle exported from America to Australia in the fall of 2017 (photo of article mentioning the shipment above).
I have the history of the bike dating back to 1967 where it wasrediscoveredand restored, t has been featured in a number of magazine articles and had 4 previous owners from 1967 through to myself.
I am no Emblem expert but over the past 2 years I have formed the belief that many parts are correct and some not. My non expert assessment is:
The engine, rame, ubs and gear box are all correctThe seat looks to be of a similar design but may not be 100% correctThe throttle should be a twist grip not a lever as it is nowThe bike is missing both primary and final chain covers, hese have be re-manufactured, ook to be the correct fit/style but need finishing off, ainting and fittingThe rims are modern, aced onto the correct hub with the correct spoke numbers, he tyres are 2.25 by 21" (i.e. 25 1/2" OD) and this closely resembles the outer diameter of the correct tyres that should be 26 by 2 1/4 beaded edge (i.e. 26" OD) The carbide headlight is a P&H and I do not believe that this would be correct for a US bike - it does however look good fitted to the bikeThe kick start mechanism looks correct but the kick start arm itself looks partly repaired/re-manufacturedThe tank is a good remake of the original tank (I know this as I have the original to compare to - this is included in the auction if the buyer wants it) The clutch is a single plate design and is currently a modern friction material and I believe this to be too hard resulting in clutch slip (at a suitable spring tension) - I believe that this plate needs to be relined with a softer material.
Included is a pile of manuals, arts lists, dvertisements, agazine articles and miscellaneous Emblem related information.
I have listed the millage as 100,000 but I have no way on knowing actual millage and eBay is forcing me to put a number in this section.
The bike is located in Perth Western Australia, am happy to sell this bike Worldwide and I will take it to any nominated transport office in Perth to assist with freight.
Preferred payment would be with a deposit via Paypal and the balance via bank transfer in Australian dollars to my Australian Bank account (at the prevailing exchange rate).
This is a very rare motorcycle that could be made 100% correct without too much extra cost/effort and is only being sold due to a ongoing medical condition and my need to cull part of bike collection.
A bike similar to this bike was recently sold by Bonhams in the UK for ?25,300 (approx. US$34,000) so with a US$15,000 starting bid this isunder priced.
Search "Bonham's auctions, uction number 23333 lot 22" this should find it
I will take a video of a walk around, tarting the bike and bench running it over the next day or so and add a link to the video in this listing.
This bike is advertised elsewhere and could be sold outside of eBay - if sold this advert will be removed.
This is a link to a YouTube video of the bike. A walk around followed by a start up - the video is non edited warts and all, he bike is being clutch started in 3rd gear (and even then clutch slip was a problem) it took a few goes to keep it going as I had assumed the throttle worked the other way and once fired up I was shutting the throttle off rather than opening it up. I ran the engine for a short time as it was 41 degrees centigrade and I didn't want to cook the engine (with no airflow). Overall the engine started better than I expected and ran OK, here did not appear to be any death rattles.
