The prior bike owner sent me a video of this motorcycle running at the time I purchased it about 5 years ago. The tires do not look like they would hold air, ut they did at that time, nd he rode it all around his yard at slow speed. I purchased the bike as a collectible item for display only, nd I have personally never cranked it. Therefore I am selling it "as is where is" with no guarantees what-so-ever except that it is a great chance to own a nice original Simplex made famous by "American Pickers". It has its bumps and bruises, ut it is much more than just a frame. I will work to assist buyer with all reasonable requests concerning crating at my actual cost to be paid by the buyer in advance. All arrangements for pick-up, elivery, nd insurance during transit will be arranged by the buyer and paid for by the buyer. We are selling only the Simplex in this auction, nd it will be sold with a Bill of Sale only. I have no idea what the mileage is on this bike. The VIN is unknown and the year model is only my speculation.
If there are Simplex experts out there that would like to comment, lease do so and educate all of us. These bikes were built from 1935 until the 1960's in New Orleans, A, nd the company was owned by Paul Treen according to a good article by Carolyn Kolb entitled Simply Simplex which I found on the internet but eBay will not display in this listing since you can't link to it. According to the article, reen was a Harley-Davidson dealer in Baton Rouge and the father of the late Governor Dave Treen. Harley turned down Treen's request to build a small motorcycle for young riders so he started up is own company. Harley must have later seen the light when they decided to build the Harley Hummer. By the way, e have a Hummer for sale also.
Take a look at my other auctions which include a mint 1946 EL with a matching 1946 perfect side car with all sorts of accessories, pare wheel and tire, ool kit and more. I am also selling a 1939 flat head Harley Davidson ULH (80 ci motor) police bike from the Andalusia, L Police Force and a nice 1957 Harley Hummer. If you want an unusual set of wheels, ou need a rare 1913 Baldwin Steam Locomotive (1 of 3 of this type in the world per former Smithsonian Transportation Curator), nd we're selling one of those also.
