Selling off part of my collection of german 2 wheelers.I decided to whittle it down to bikes that I ride more than 3 times a year.I imported this 1955 Goggo in 2008.The bike had the original german title which I grudgingly had to surrender in order to get a texas one in my name. This art deco scooter is the rare 200cc version,a little more oomph than the 175 standart issue.Produced by the hans glas gmbh in Bavaria, this was considered the Cadillac of scooters, plenty of room and horsepower and a motor that is mounted in the middle, not hanging off one side of the bike like some of the Italian contemporaries. The Glas company also produced farm machinery, the famed goggo microcars and some bigger cars. They were the first to install timingbelts vs chains in engines. The company was sold to BMW in 1968.The scooter is powered by a reliable ILO 2 stroke fan cooledengine mated to a foot shift[thank god] transmission.Powere gets to the rearwheel via a chain.Simplicity rules. The bike wears its factory coat of paint, all the plastic piping is original. The paint does have issues, the worst being 2 holes right were the luggagerack meets the shroud.I was tempted a few times to take it apart and paint it,but on advice of fellow bike collectors[DON'T PAINT IT],cooler heads prevailed and the bike is here in all its glorious patina. The only change I made was to install one 12 volt battery vs the factory 2 in line 6 volt units. The did not have 12 volt bike batteries in postwar Germany. The bike runs fine,it will do 60.Tires are old,but not cracked.for questions please call 214/707 9525
