1969 Velosolex 3800 Iconic French moped in excellent running order

Welcome to my auction of this nice tidy Velosolex 3800. These famous French mopeds are becoming more and more popular in the UK. There is an excellent club for these bikes with a good social side with numerous rideouts etc. It will also get you free entry into many classic vehicle shows.

Introduced in 1946 to get France mobile again after the war at the lowest possible cost they were hugely successful with over 12 million being built! They have featured in many feature films and have been ridden by celebrities from Brigitte Bardot to Mr Bean!

This bike is a 1969 square framed 3800. It is in perfect running order and starts perfectly within a metre hot or cold exactly as a well set up Solex should. It has had a thorough engine overhaul with new bearings and seals etc. The brakes work fine as do the lights. The tyres are not new but both have loads of tread. The original saddle is in excellent condition.

Cosmetically it is very tidy but not concourse. It has some surface rust and marks as you would expect for a 44 year old bike in its original paint. It looks just right parked outside a French caf?©. The chrome on the handlebars is good and the wheels quite presentable. If you want one of these iconic bikes that is ready to use once registered this might be for you.

These bikes never had to be registered in France until recently so there is no log book. I will supply the bike with a French cession de vehicle certificate and full receipt in French and English to assist with registering in the UK. This form also proves that the bike comes from within the EU and as such there is no duty or VAT payable.

Please note that this bike is at present in the town of Chabris in the Indre (36) department of central France. For a price of £40 I can arrange delivery to the Worthing area a few days after the end of the auction. Alternatively for the same price you can collect the bike from the Kempton Park autojumble on the 25th of October. Other delivery destinations are available but please contact me for a price.

You are also welcome to come here to collect the bike and I will offer the winning bidder one nights free accommodation in our B&B. Imagine the brownie points you will earn for taking your partner for a weekend in the Loire Valley. They will be so happy they wont even notice you buying a bike!! These bikes will fit in the back of almost any hatchback car.

Payment is by cleared sterling cheque if you are having the bike delivered or by cash on collection if you are coming to collect from here or Worthing/Kempton Park.
