Description

An Aero Caproni 1951 Capriolo 75 cc overhead camshaft Italian motorcycle. We were told that this bike completed 2 Giro d'Italia in the mid 2000's (04 and 05?) and received awards as the smallest capacity motorcycle to complete the entire route.

Aero Caproni were an Italian aircraft manufacturer that started building motorcycles after the war this single and a 150cc horizontally opposed twin (like a small Douglas Mk) and later more conventional engined small motorcycles.

A friend brought this in 2008 and had some engine work done on it. He sold it to me in 2012 due to his poor health and I got it running again recently.

The engine has an in-line crankshaft and a bevel drive to the gear cluster then chain drive to the rear wheel. The ohc is a face cam. bevel driven off the crankshaft bevel.   I had the engine running some months ago. clutch and gears all worked. The remaining electrics have not been checked out. the rear light requires a new lens (same as some other small Italian bikes).

The bike has been restored at some stage I assume prior to doing the Giro (probably early 2000's?) the paintwork is OK with some scratches and marks. not concourse! The wheel rims are painted steel and in good condition.

Note the Giro picture shows the bike in 2005 when I saw it at a show. 2008 when the previous owner bought it and currently. the only Giro plates now with the bike are those shown as 2014. A picture of the bike leaving the start line (2006) and at the finish (a different year hence different number)

The bike is UK registered with a V5C and some historic paperwork. MOTs from 2004 & 2006. a current tax disk. a MotoGiro route book for 2006 and paper copies of some of the internet data including a riders manual that includes maintenance and repair.

The bike will be supplied with a CD with digital copies of the handbook and some internet articles.

The bike can be viewed daytime or evenings with notice. I am retired so can generally be home. however if holidaying I may be away for some days at a stretch.

The winner will pay £100 via Paypal within 24 hours of the offer being accepted and all the balance as cash on or before collection which must be within 7 days of the offer being accepted.
