Clearing out some of my collection of cars and bikes.
I bought this scooter (and another which recently sold) at the end of 2009 from an enthusiast near Buxton who brought it into the country from Germany. I do have a sales receipt from him.
I had the intention of restoring it. riding it and keeping it in my collection but I have come to accept that I have just too many projects.
I had the original German registration documents showing the vehicles details and owners but these were sent back to the German authorities when I registered the scooter last year.
I do have some rough photocopies
From The book:-
143cc 2-stroke 9. 5bhp engine
Maximum speed 56mph
Weight 128kg
IWL Troll is a robust East German scooter and is very rare in the UK. The engineering is real 'belt and braces' and built to last.
Lovely engine with low down torque (compared to a 150 Lambretta). Quite a large scooter but not too heavy due to the use of Aluminium.
Air cooled engine. which is of MZ origin. uses a belt drive fan for cooling. MZ mechanics mean that spares from Germany are not a problem.
It has not covered any miles since it's first UK MOT in April 2013 but that has now expired.
It was registered in the UK by me in April 2014 and is on an age related 1963 'A' plate.
Clock shows 43. 80 kilometres

I have only ridden it on a private road. I fitted a temporary 6v battery and the engine started and ran well with no nasty noises.
It accelerates well through all the gears and feels more like a tourer than a sports scooter. the large 12" tyres giving it good handling.
Spare wheel and tyre which goes on the holding studs behind the seat is included in the sale.
The paint appears to be original rather than a respray so I doubt that the bodywork has been stripped down. The back cover comes off for full engine access.
Faults.
Quite a few bumps and bashes caused by age and storage.
The paint work looks original and worn-in.
The tyres passed the MOT but they are old and for safety reasons I would recommend new ones in the future ?ˆ“ 3. 50 x 12.
Seat base is solid as is the foam - needs recovering an new foam - for comfort.
There is some damage to the front mudgaurd. A spare. in better condition. is included in the sale - see last picture.
