Description

Very nice original toaster tank motorcycle!  1965 Sears. 175 cc.   The motorcycles were produced in Austria by Puch. a division of Steyr-Daimler-Puch. marketed in the US by Sears Roebuck. and branded as either Sears or Allstate.   Styling is like a 7/8 size mid '50s BMW motorcycle. very sleek. with BMW-like details such as the speedometer built into the headlight housing. a pin-type Hella key with a bakelight handle. a Bing carburetor. etc. This is a two cycle motor. and is an unusual design - two pistons that connect to a single crankshaft throw.   It was a twin single. and was known as a "Twingle".   Single carb and spark plug.   The extra piston was for scavenging. getting extra power out of the two cycle design. Nice bike. original black paint has some scratches but overall looks great.   Original white pinstriping is very faint.   Chrome is good and very presentable but not perfect.   Denham seat is very nice. with good Sears logo on back.   Good Sears badges on the toaster tank.   Even has as-delivered stickers on the speedometer (shift points) and on the gas tank (mixture)!  Runs really well. kicks over nicely. and a blast to run around on.   I have a few extra parts as well as a reprint of the original owners manual.   Parts and advice are readily available from Motor West Motorcycles (motorwestmotorcycles on the web. eBay won't let you put an address here. but they are worth checking out). who specialize in vintage Puchs and BMWs.   Nice folks. I have had the bike for 5 years. and just have too many old bikes - need to thin the herd.   No title. bill of sale only.   (The bike came out of Georgia. which doesn't have titles for old bikes like this. )  You can generally apply for a title. subject to the particular processes in your state.   I seldom bother - I insure the old bikes (very cheap - JC Taylor and other specialists) and just hang a plate from another bike on them for the occasional rides.   eBay does not have a category for bill of sale. and forces you to pick a category. so I picked the rebuilt category to get your attention on this point. This is really a nice bike. not perfect. and I would like it to go to a good home.   Feel free to call me at 864-884-3151. or message me. with any questions.   I can assist your shipper at this end. and can hold the bike for pick up or shipper arrival to work with your schedule.
