Description

Ural K750 Sidecar outfit. 1962 Tax exempt. New MOT. The Engine is the 750cc. and the gearbox has 4 forward gears and 1 reverse gear. The side car is freewheeling as the ones with a driven wheel are not best suited to tarmac Interestingly the gearbox has two neutrals. one between first and second. like a normal bike. and another between third and fourth. to allow you to "coast down hills" and save fuel !. Reverse can only be selected when in standard neutral. I bought this bike on its original Russian logbook at the end of 2012. the engine and frame numbers are correct to the log and first registration was 17/03/1962 ( the original log book will come with the bike ) The new registration is an age related number making the small black and silver number plate both legal and correct to spec. also the sidecar on the right of the bike is legal. The kick start is on the left of the bike. The Paint was done in Latvia prior to shipping and is Africa Korps colour. ( I chose this as the K750 is a copy of the BMW M72 that would have been used by the Africa Korps ). The correct badge would have been a swastika on the palm tree. I didn't fancy that so used the "peace" sign to replace it. The paint has been brushed all over with Anker Wax. this gives the appearance of age as dirt sticks in it. if you prefer it shiny. just use detergent and remove the wax. Mechanically I have replaced all four tyres and tubes ( the spare fits front. rear and sidecar ). the front and rear have both been Glooped ( self mending puncture ) I have had both heads and barrels off. lapped the valves in and lightly honed the bores. all is in good condition. I am pretty sure piston rings are new. there were no scores on the barrels Ignition switch replaced. with correct one. old style voltage regulator ( points type) replaced with solid state one and generator re wired to suit. The electrics all work but appear to be ordinary household wire. I guess you have to be resourceful in Latvia. All brake shoes re lined. All cables replaced Iridium plugs and NGK caps fitted. new rotor fitted. new copper leads and a Gel 6 volt battery hidden in old style rubber battery box. Sale will include a spare set of new contact breakers. a new copper head gasket. cork sump gasket and valve adjustment access gaskets. and some spare 6 v bulbs. inc the headlamp bulb. some 20/50 engine oil and some sae 80 gearbox oil The sump and rocker gaskets leak and the engine uses oil. this is pretty standard on this style of engine as I believe a small amount of oil passes along the valves into the cylinder. its not passing the piston rings. The bike is a manual ignition advance/ retard and has a lever next to the clutch lever. This is pulled in ( retarded ) to kick start the bike and when the bike is under load ( climbing a hill ). If you kick the bike without retarding the ignition you will get a short leg! Please don't think that 750cc is comparable to a modern 750cc. this is a heavy outfit with low gearing and is doing its best at 50 mph. and that's fast when you have a rod and cable operated brakes ! Included will be a print off of operators manual and links for buying spares. ( spares are reasonably priced and fairly readily available ) Please message to arrange any viewing I will reply to all sensible messages I have started the auction lower than I believe it to be worth with no reserve. I don't have a "buy it now". Buyer to collect
