Description

I bought this bike off a Post Office enthusiast and ex employee who has several of them and also a lot of other PO memorabilia. he actually started his post office career as a post man and finished up in the management team.   This bike at some time in its life has been restored and still looks the part. although there are a few paint chips and slight scratches. nbsp; generally I would say it is very nice. The bike hasn't been on the road for about ten years and I don't know when it was last ran. I have not tried to start it therefore it is being sold as a project and not for immediate road use.   With the bike are a few old mot's  an old V5  and a new V5c. old cardboard logbook and a dating certificate saying  frame and registration number were issued to Wembley Post Office in Sept 1965. the engine and frame numbers don't match. but. as the previous owner informed me. nbsp; 'no genuine PO bike could have their original engine. because when a problem arose the engines were swapped in about an hour and the original engine was shelved 'til they had time to repair it. then shelved again until another bike came in with engine problems. then off it went in another bike. their interest was to keep the bikes on the road'.   Also of interest is that this bike was previously part of the famous Lawrence collection in Barrow-in-Furness. I'm not sure but I think it was there that it was restored.   Please feel free to ask any questions or. come to view if you're not too far away. nbsp; I can deliver U. K. mainland. thanks for looking and good luck should you decide to bid.
