LAMBRETTA SCOOTER

    This scooter was discovered in a garden shed. It sat for over 30 years. After the various yard tools were removed it was pushed outside and as to be expected it was in sad looking condition. Flat tires. seat rot. tarnish. But it kicked over. Once cleaned it was checked for spark and a bright crisp snap crossed the electrode ! This started a journey to get it back on the road in time to surprise my wife in eight months time.      At a friends house the scooter was disassembled. panels sand blasted. not for rust but to remove hi-vis decals and stripes. Getting parts was not difficult since there is a large support base for these. A rebuild kit for the carb. new muffler. two new tires. three new tubes. cables. various other items. The luggage was chrome but was powder coated. As our planned date for the unveil was almost near we ran out of time for getting some things off the " do list ". as a result. we didn't correct a lazy return spring for the kick start lever. the lights do work. as does the horn. but we didn't hook them up. or get the rear brake working. The paint work is basic hardware store rattle can.    But the scooter made it's big debut under it's own power. Since then it's used for Mod Vs. Rockers shows. Italian car shows or just cruise around the lakes and wave at the ducks. It's just a fun little scooter that always gets smiles and thumbs up where ever it goes.    NOTE: for those who are aware of the " barn find " books. Cobra in the Barn.
