I have for sale this very original 1958 Velosolex 1010 in running order.
The 1010 is one of the rarer Velosolex versions. It has 24 inch wheels and was the first model to have the double transfer port engine. It has the more sought after round frame and looks just right in its unrestored condition. It starts and runs but the fuel smells stale and I think a good clean of the fuel system will make it run even better. I will change the fuel and the petrol pump membrane and add the result to the listing in due course. The engine itself sounds fine with load of compression.
It has its correct plastics and headlamp in good condition but the petrol tank has a dent in the top see pic 3. Cosmetically it has a nice patina and looks just right for a 56 year old bike. It looks exactly as it should parked outside a French caf?©. The original black paint has some surface rust and scratches as you would expect and the original supplying dealers name is on the chain guard. The chrome is in average condition but looks right for its age. It has its original owners plaque on the handlebars which is nice. This was compulsory on mopeds in France in the 1960`s and shows the name of a previous owner and the town they lived in. The tool box is in place on the rear rack and contains a full set of tools plus a spare spark plug. The tyres are in good condition and it has its original bell which works when it feels like it. Very French!! The rare original rear light is in good condition.
There is no log book with the bike as it has never been registered in France. I will supply the bike with a French certificat de cession which proves that the bike came from within the EU so there is no duty or VAT payable. It also makes registering in the UK a simple affair and I am happy to talk the winning bidder through the process.
Please note that this bike is at present in the town of Chabris in the Indre (36) department of central France. For a price of £40 I can arrange delivery to the Worthing area a few days after the end of the auction. Other delivery destinations are available but please email me for a price. The bike can also be collected from the Ardingly autojumble on the 12th of October. Alternatively you are welcome to come to France to collect the bike and I will offer the inning bidder one nights free accommodation in our B&B included in the final sale price.
Payment is by cleared sterling cheque if you are having the bike delivered or by cash on collection if you are coming to collect her.
Any questions please email me or call from the UK on 00 33 254051245
