This is a very reluctant sale of a lovely little bike. but I'm just not using it enough and I need the money for other projects. Although first registered in October 1962. according to the frame number it would appear to be a 1963 model which is quite probable as most British manufacturers released the following year's models in the preceding October at that time. As you can see from the pictures. it's quite original. although the guards should be blue plastic. I believe. (the white fibreglass came along a year or so later) and the wheels have been rebuilt using Akront flanged alloy rims and stainless spokes. It is currently fitted with very lightly worn MT43 tyres. The once polished alloy tank has been sprayed silver but has been well done. Just over a year ago a lot of work was carried out on the engine by a leading pre-65 scrambler including reconditioned crank. new Viton oil seals. new crank bearings. rebore and piston. heavy duty trials clutch fitted. improved cylinder sleeve bolts. compression plate. etc. . etc. The Villiers carb. has been set up on the advice of a well known pre-65 trials rider - slide modified. tick over screw added. long float needle fitted enabling the troublesome float copper plate to be dispensed with etc. I've used this bike for a handful of VMCC events including the fabulous Beamish Trophy Trial for the last two years where it coped easily with the sections and off road going to finish on both occasions in the first class awards. Obviously the mileage shown is not genuine. The bike was lightly restored in 2003 when the speedo was overhauled and zero'd. I have MOTs going back to that date to illustrate that it has only done 800 odd miles since 2003. Currently fitted with a 44t rear sprocket to give easy road cruising of 50+ with the competition box providing a low enough 1st and 2nd gear to cope with Beamish type sections. but if you want to do the super nadgery stuff encountered in most pre-65 trials nowadays 50t and 54t sprockets are included in the sale. So there you have it - a nice little Greeves. all ready to trail. trial. or just enjoy!Any inspection welcome. Early contact after completion of the auction will be appreciated and cash on collection within 7 days please. unless agreed otherwise. Could help with delivery up to 70 miles from Chelmsford at cost.
