1971 Maico MC400 Square Barrel Vintage Motocross AHRMA CZ Penton Elsinore

 This is either a 70 . or a 71 MC400 Maico Square Barrel. I am not sure which year it actually is.   The previous owner told me 70. but the frame number comes up as 71. Frame # 382160  MC400Engine # T400407 The bike was restored by the previous owner some time ago. and has been in his basement on static display since. I was told he started it when it was done. but I have not attempted to.   It has spark and kicks through with compression. There are no fluids in the lower end and the kill switch does not work. Every now and then the kickstart gets hung up high in the throw. but if kicked from halfway down it will kick though easily. The gas tank. fenders. and air box are fiberglass. There is no air filter or box to carb boot. The carb is an Amal with a tickler. The seat cover. paint. pipe. chain  and rear tire look new. Suspension is very springy. Shift lever is missing toe clip.     I would give the bike a thorough going over if it were to be a race bike. If the bike is for display purposes then it looks great. Paint finish is fair. hardware looks stainless. I would rate the resto as a "B". and say it will need a few things tightened up and sorted out ect.     All in all its a rare and mean looking machine! Please look closely at the photos and ask questions first. I am by no means a Maico expert. so feel free to educate me. The bike is sold with a bill of sale. old dirt bikes dont have titles!I would like the bike picked up within a reasonable amount of time from 03827 NH
