This is the brilliantly designed step through model. Fantastic if you have dodgy knees. back or hips.   Welcome to my quad auction. Before I tell you about the quad let me tell you a bit about myself: As a hobby I used to build and compete in Land Rovers. due to a bad back. I had to give that up. Because we all need a hobby I looked for something smaller. ie Quads. I look around and find sound but unloved machines. strip them down. repair or replace whatever is needed. paint the frame and plastics and generally try to put them back to as near as factory as possible but with a few additions. I don't do it to make money. just the pleasure of achievement at the end. Review my feedback for the vehicles I have sold. This quad was owned by a friend of mine since 2006. on several occasions I have tried to buy it from him but to no avail. then earlier in the summer he phoned and ask if I was still interested. He needed a working quad and this had blown a CV joint and had problems with the electrics. he said he didn't have time to fix it but needed to sell it before purchasing another. Without hesitation I agreed a price. I had ridden this quad before. seen him use it and knew just how capable these quads are. Since finishing it I went back to his farm to show him the results and we went for a ride together. His new Honda is a capable machine but as he said no where near as good as the Traxter. The Traxter is more comfortable & stable. soaks up uneven surfaces better. has much more 'grunt' and has a faster top speed. Read the original reviews on Google. Anyway about the quad: As I have said it is a Bombardier Traxter 500. Bombardier was taken over by Can-Am in 2006. These are not a cheap quad to buy and are probably one of the best you can get. This is a 500cc model with the 'Bombproof' Rotax twin cylinder four stroke engine. I have changed the engine/gearbox oil with the correct 'expensive' oil and Hi-Flo filter. New genuine air filter. new spark plugs. cleaned and adjusted the carb. drained and refilled to cooling system with antifreeze. re-soldered the broken solenoid connection and it now runs really well with no smoke. Starts first time every time. I replaced the broken CV joint and while I was there replaced two front ball joints and the shock absorber bushes. The brakes had supposedly been refurbished by a local agricultural engineer!! So I removed all the calipers. cleaned and freed off the pistons. replaced any needed seals. fitted new bleed nipples. and flushed through the whole system with new fluid. The pads had been replaced. Next was the electrics. unfortunately these had also suffered at the hands of the agri engineer. I spent many hours trying to work out which scotch-locked bit of wire went where. in the end I ripped them out and went back to the original loom and cured the problems with that. All my work is soldered and heat shrunk sleeved. The battery is less than 6 months old and holds its charge. All lights work. indicators. 55w work light. horn. 12v outlet and I also fitted heated handlebar grips. The frame is fairly well protected so only had small patches of surface rust. these were rubbed down sprayed with anti rust primer and finished in satin black to match original. The rear sub-frame. footwell out-riggers. racks and front bar were showing the usual sign's of general farm use. these were stripped back to bare metal. sprayed with 2 coats of epoxy primer and then 3 top coats. The grey plastics were cleaned. sanded and sprayed with an Anthracite PVC paint (the paint they use for lorry curtain sides. very flexible & hard wearing) the main plastics were cleaned sanded and had 2 mist coats of high adhesion primer. 2 coats of primer. 3 coats of two pack Land Rover Firenze Red base and 3 coats of two pack clear laquer.  The wheels were wire brushed. primed. black inners and outside centres with silver rims and two coats of clear. This really is and stunning looking vehicle. the paint colour combinations go really well and is a head turner. The seat was re-covered for me and he has done a lovely job of it.  There is a huge storage locker at the front. It had two new tyres on the front a fortnight before I bought it and I have just put two new rear tyres on. I used A2 stainless nuts and bolts when rebuilding. The trailer was a box trailer I purchased from a friend but this is a large quad so it didn't fit. I have built the trailer around the quad now. the ramps are stored under the floor behind the number plate. all new LED electrics. floor. mudguards. wheel trims. jockey wheel and good tyres. Again two coats of epoxy primer and two top coats of silver. Well balanced and tows really well. You can also use the trailer behind the quad and it tows it with ease. I was thinking about keeping this quad originally. that's why I went a bit over the top. but I now have another project in the pipeline. so need the space and money to move on. If you buy this you will not be disappointed. You are welcome to come and view / try the quad by prior arrangement. but please no joy riders. I will answer any questions as quickly and honestly as I can. I have done so much to this quad that there are bound to be things I missed out of the description. so please ask. There is only one problem that I am aware of. The speedo has started to play up when I drove it today. sometimes it will not register the speed. I think it will need a new speed sensor. Sorry. It is 10 years old so don't expect new. there are some scratches that would not be possible to sand out and filler would only pop out but the new paint disguises most of these. Auction will run to the end. so no silly offers please.   Cash on Collection or PayPal if you pay half their fees.   I am in Ilfracombe. North Devon. 50 minutes from J27 M5. I can deliver within 100 mile radius for ??1 a mile one way Thanks for taking the time to read all of this.                                                                        Nigel. 07971 480752
