Description

I am listing this for a friend of mine. Niel. who is not on eBay. his number is 07970 279180 for direct questions. The Scooter its self is an extremely rare British made scooter known as a Dayton Albatross. These were made between 1956 to 1960 as far as I know. This machine was registered very early in 1957 and uses the first engine they fitted which was the Villiers 225cc two stroke single unit. which was a well tried and tested engine and a tough little unit. Additionally spares supply for this engine is still relatively good. This machine is not currently registered but does come with its original old log book or RF60 so claiming the number back on this machine should not prove to be too problematic. The last tax disc is also still on the bike. indicating that this machine has not seen road use since 1962. but also means that recovery of the number is not in question. The Scooter its self has been extensively restored and is in very very clean condition. Its starts and runs fine with no undue noise or smoke from the engine. The standard of finish is high with the machine having all its original trim and badges from what I can see. The lights etc do not presently work as it needs a battery connecting in and a wire adding for these to work. but this does not look difficult. These Scooters were high class affairs aimed at Scooterist and motorcycle riders alike.  Unfortunately they did not take off sales wise as intended and they were probably just a few years before the main Scooter craze took off in the UK. Note the level of chroming the high standard of finish. the overall size of the machine. it all indicates that this was aimed at the top end of the market in the late 1950s. Cgeck out the nice enamal Union Jack emblam on the front for example and the nice chrome Dayton Albatross logos on either side. This is dripping in bling. This is now a rare scooter and one thats nice to add to your collection. or nice to be seen on something different. afterall. everybody and their dog has a Lambretta SX200 or whatever don. they ?. right ?. You want to be different dont. you ?. Finally. for those of you who are really sharp. you might notice a final picture of another machine I have coming up for sale soon. a 1949 Speedtwin. more laterViewing is welcome. 01246 411977 for an appointment. Collection is preferred. although I can arrange for delivery within the mainland UK by courier for ??100. If you bid. you buy and thats it. Finally. any payment direct to Neil as this is not my machine.
