NICE LOOKING. RELIABLE. nbsp;CLASSIC BIKE
please note. plastics are not new. they have been prepared with adhesive promoter. sprayed with acrylic paint. then lacquered. There are a couple of cracks in the paint where the plastics were put back onto the bike.
So many questions about the bike. I will try and explain everything that was done.
When I bought the bike it was ok but looked very tired and unloved. The air box was missing. rear mud guard broken. Front headlight cowl cracked. side panels cracked and held on with zip ties plus the exhaust had melted part of one. The exhaust is not original. Fork seals leaking. rear shock had no rebound. The engine ran fine which was not a surprise as it is a Honda. cables were all stiff. Wheels had a lot of surface rust on rims and spokes. Electric?ˆ™s all ok. everything working as it should. Seat has stretch marks on each side and a tape repair on it.
I then stripped the bike down; shot blasted the frame. swing arm. triple clamps. rear rack. belly pan and other small items. I then set about looking for parts. which was not easy. The only rear mud guard I could find was a RED second hand one which was 100% better than the one I had. but had to be re-sprayed. Air filter box I think is from a 125 S but it fitted. slightly short where joining to the carb. so joining piece fitted. Could not find side panels or headlight cowl. so repaired as best I could and re- sprayed. Wheel rims were masked off and hubs and spokes sprayed black. Brake shoes cleaned. check and adjusted. New wheel bearings front and back. Front fork seals renewed and new gators. Rear shock had to be sent away and be done. Foot pegs again I could not find any. so were cut off and universal set welded back on. Swing arm bearings were checked. cleaned and re-greased. Fuel tank was rubbed down a couple of small dents filled and re-sprayed. Again all spraying was done by me. I am not a professional just an enthusiast. Lastly the engine. which ran as sweet as a nut. I did not want to strip completely ( why fix what aint broken ) Cases were taken off clutch was checked. fly removed to check stator all found ok. Oil filter screen cleaned and fresh oil put in. Gears all working fine. new gear lever fitted. Engine was then sand blasted and re- sprayed. New side stand fitted. I decided to leave the seat cover as I could not find one the same only in blue which I didn?ˆ™t think would look very good. I am sure I have missed a few things out but this should give you a good idea of what has been done.
