Description

FOR SALE my James 197cc Villers engine motor. I believe it to be a Captain. It was first register in1950.  I have owned it since 1990 and had a couple of years of off road fun with it before my interest moved on to other things.

As you can see in the main photo it has a 'modern' front end fitted. This was done professionally because the original forks and drum brake scared me silly. The modern bits were adjusted to fit without changing the original bits so you can just unbolt the 'modern' front end and refit the original one. As you can see in the other photos the original forks and front wheel are included in the sale together with all the other bits and bobs. nbsp;everything that it had on it when it was last on the road. There are two sets of mudguards. nbsp;the silver ones that it wore off-road and the red ones for when it was dressed up for the road. There are also two headlights one was on the bike when I brought it and the other is another more effective one that I fitted because it offered more light. There are also two covers for the brass fly-wheel. a battered dull metal one and a shiny chrome one. I'm also including some James tank transfers. they are old but look useable. I have on idea if they are the correct ones for the model and age of the bike.

I have the original registration document (the buff coloured card in the photo) and an old style V5 with my name on it. By the time the modern style V5 documents were introduced the bike had already been off the road for a few years and must have dropped off the DVLC radar because I never got round to getting it a modern style document V5 or SORN. which I have subsequently leant was probably naughty! The bike as it stands in the photo has been stored under a tarp in a sheltered spot but everything else has been stored in a dry trunk in my loft.

Sorry to sound girly but there really is no point in asking me any technical questions but if there is something you are desperate to find out I'm willing to try to take more photos of the area that interests you.

The reason that I'm selling now is that I'm moving house so the buyer MUST collect it from Milton Keynes before 20th November 2014

Thank you. /p>

A bidder. nbsp;that I presume knows what he is talking about. has looked at the photos and kindly informed me that  the tank. and front hub are from a later James not from a 1950 one. I don't know enough to know it this is the case or not but I'm willing to take his word for it. Please be aware that this bike has been around for 65 years and passed through various hands so it might well be the case that things have been replaced or modified. Where I know things have been changed I've stated so  in my listing. I can say that all the bits that it had when I brought it in 1990 are still with it. I must stress that I am just a female former rider who brought the bike all those years ago because it was tough and smallish and I liked the classic styling of it. I'm not a classic bike buff so I can only present things to the best of my limited knowledge.
