Description

1980 SWM 320TL-Originally sold in England (GB serial#). mported to California around 1990. and purchased by me in 2008 from a dealer in South Dakota. I restored the bike to compete in the Mid -Atlantic Vintage trials series which I did for a couple of years before I injured my back at work. Since then the bike has been in heated storage and started every couple of months. I restored the bike as a works replica and incorporated as many period modifications as possible. Many of the mods are found in photos of Bernie Schriebers bike in the book "Observed Trials" and other period photos. The bike features an aluminum swingarm I purchased from a dealer in Italy and has a custom stainless steel chain guard and roller chain tensioner. The shocks are rebuilt Works Performance units. The forks are Betor units and the triple clamps are Marzocchi (as were preferred by the factory works riders). The front fender has been narrowed as were the works bikes. The handlebars are period Renthal. The front brake stay arm is a custom made chrome moly replica of the works part. The frame has the rear loop modified to the newer specs and the foot pegs are widened and moved rearward. The heavy stock muffler has been replaced with a lighter unit to reduce high weight and is custom fitted. The clutch has light springs and is actuated by a modern Moose easy pull lever which gives it a light pull and is very controllable. The tires are nearly new Michelin Radials. The engine runs well and has been recently ringed and carb rebuilt. This SWM is a ready to run compitition Vintage trials bike with little or no issues that I know of than a leaky countershaft seal.  I hate to sell but its time for someone else to enjoy this awesome vintage trials bike. The bike has no title as off road bike are not required to be titled in Virginia. I will provide a bill of sale to the new owner along with any spares that I accumulated when restoring this bike.
