Matchless G2 250 cc

Here we have a 1960 G2 Matchless in good but not concours condition. Plus points: It starts. runs and rides well with no untoward knocks or rattles. It has a new 12v alternator and REG 1 regulator. 2v coil. quartz halogen headlight and  pilot light and LED stop and rear so night riding or running a daylight is very practical. It has a brand new Armours exhaust and silencer.   It has a dating certificate from the AJS/Matchless owners club confirming that the engine and frame have always been together. It is tax exempt and has 11 months MOT.   Negative points . The lower half of the full chain case is missing. Paint work a bit scruffy in places. There is a little oil incontinence from the primary chain case and some curious small punctures in the seat cover. The chrome is in fairly good condition but is showing some signs of age. The registration number is a non-transferable age related one issued in 2012 when the bike was put back on the road. The previous owner tried to get it registered under its original and known number but despite evidence from the owners club DVLA would have none of it. Apparently the records for the Middlesex local tax office where the bike was originally registered have been destroyed so there is insufficient evidence to connect the number to the bike. PersonallyI suspect as the number was an unusual two letter one they have already sold it or plan to do so! In summary a good little bike. ither ride as is or easily restore. Buyer collects.
