This is not your father's Laverda RGS. When new this was a red RGS with the standard 120 degree motor. The original owner (Italian) bought the bike new in 1982. He used the bike to tour and sport around the neighborhood for about 12000 kilometers (~7200miles). He then had the bike professionally brought up to TT1 standards in the late 80s. In 82. Laverda. under the direction of Augusto Brettoni. engineer. test rider and racer. commissioned a race bike for European GP. The history of those bikes is in most Laverda history references. In the final hour the GP rules were changed and the bikes built were never used for their purpose. They did. however. prove to be the most extraordinary Laverda performers of the their day. The bike for sale here was disassembled and shipped off to each of the providers of the original TT1 contractors. It has the Brettoni motor by Brettoni's shop. High compression pistons 11:1. the three 32mm Dell Ortos have been replaced with 36mm Webers. 11. 2 mm lift cams with 10mm overlap. 41mm intake valves and 35mm exhaust. lightened and balanced crank. ported and flowed cylinder head. and 3 into 1 Laverda Corse exhaust. Full floating Brembo Golds on the front. Federiconi wider mags as on the TT1. an aluminum rear swing arm as on the Laverda SFCs. Bitubo shocks. original fork prepared to SFC specs and a flush racing style fuel filler. The whole thing was repainted in Laverda Orange. The frame remains in it's original factory paint. Motor and frame numbers match. A doctor. the second owner kept the bike in his "small" collection until it was imported here in 2013. It appears to not having been ridden much since the late 80s refit. The paint remains very fresh. The importer to the US had the bike recommissioned for the street with a thorough going over including replacing valve seats. rebuilding carbs. replacing fuel lines and cables as required. a heavy duty battery. regular service and rebuild of the Corse 3 into 1. all by a former Laverda dealer. It runs great! It sounds great! It is quite a chuckle as it passes through 3500 rpm. The bike was imported by a Dallas businessman that immediately admitted he was not experienced enough to safely ride it. He did fall madly in love with the whole Laverda idea though. I was approached to see if I was interested as a guy with Laverdas. I traded a the nicest SF2 on the planet for it and he was thrilled. This bike can be bought for about the same money as a regular RGS. None of your Laverda buddies will have one. I have taken it to the track a couple of times as a reminder of what super bike guys were in for in the 80s. Probably not a good starter bike for your wife. A lot of fun on the street though. I can facilitate shipping at your expense. I'd guess about $650 in the continental US. Putting these listings together is a PITA! Please don't bid if you don't know how you will pay. I'll just have to do it all again. There is a pretty good picture here of the bike on the street in Italy last year. Sorry bout the upside down part. Best Luck! Mike
