Description

The engine turns over and has good compression. the tranny shifts through all gears (as well as any Sachs from that era) but I?ˆ™m not going to try to start it.   It ran great when it was parked about 40 years ago!

This bike was purchased new by me here in Phoenix. raced a few times and ridden in the desert. and then replaced by a Maico.   My father took it and rode it once or twice and then it was relegated to his  shed.   I am not nostalgic and don?ˆ™t have the time (or skills) to restore it or space to keep it. so it?ˆ™s for sale.

It?ˆ™s in good shape for a 44-year old MX bike. although it still has gas and oil from the 70?ˆ™s in it. and has scratches and dings from its brief racing career.   You could just give it a thorough cleaning and it would make a good man cave/garage queen. but if you want to ride it. it will need some TLC.   The inside of the tank has some rust from whatever moisture the gas picked up. and I?ˆ™m sure the tranny. fork and shock oil is sludge by now.

The original aluminum fenders and chain guide were taken off shortly after purchase. but are included and are straight. although the front fender has some meaningful scratches from a crash.   The bike also has a downpipe. which is a little dented on the bottom but easily repaired.    The seat cover isn?ˆ™t original (my mother made it) but it?ˆ™s in decent shape with just the one rip/hole.    I don?ˆ™t think the handlebars are original. and they are rusty. but the buyer will also get (if you want it) the green tank 1974 (S/N 30161474) parts bike which has a good set of original bars on it.   That bike is missing lots of stuff. but should have a lot of usable parts for someone into restoring these bikes.    It was sitting outside. so it?ˆ™s plastic and leather is pretty much shot. and the crank is full of leaves/debris. but the tranny should be usable.

Please ask any questions about the bike you may have.   I can deliver them in the Phoenix metro area. including to a freight or transportation carrier. but cannot crate or disassemble them.   They will come with a bill of sale only (no titles on dirt bikes in AZ in 1970). and don?ˆ™t move until the full purchase price has been received by me.
