1971 DKW / SACHS 125 – UNRESTORED UNMOLESTED ORIGINAL

 

This bike is a great candidate for a total restoration.

 

I have owned this bike since 1976. I got it when I was a senior in high school. I am now 56 years old.  It has sat in my dad’s garage for the last 38 years. He passed away 4 years ago and we just sold the house so everything had to be out.

 

This bike is an unrestored unmolested vehicle with years of dust and patina as you can see in the pictures. The bike is very original and complete. I think it has what was called the radial head. It even still has the vinyl factory hand brake covers.

 

All I have done to get it started was clean out the carb and tank petcock. It had a bright blue spark. It fired right up and ran great. The gas tank is dirty inside and will need cleaning. I only ran it long enough to make a video of it running. I ran it less than a minute due to it sitting so long and I did not want to hurt anything.

Headlight. Taillight. Stoplight and even the horn worked. I was shocked !!  The gas tank has no dents. the fenders are straight but they have some surface pitting . The tires are Metzler. do not know if they are original but they hold air and are in visually great shape.  

 

It is missing the Ignition key. The bike ignition switch is in the on position.
