1962 Velosolex 2200 French moped in lovely condition.

I am selling this very nice and original 1962 Velosolex 2200 round frame model. The round frame was built in this shape from 1955 till 1965 with various updates over the years. The 2200 was the last round frame version before the frame was modernised with the introduction of the less atractive square frame. As such the 2200 is thought of as the best model as it has nice older looks with the most powerful enine.   The first Velosolex was built in 1946 and was designed to get the country mobile again after the war at the lowest cost. They were enormously popular and over 12 millon were built before production in France ended in about 1980. They are now very sought after with owners clubs in many coutries. They were sold in the UK but only ever in small numbers. If you are looking for a very good round frame bike then this might be for you.   The condition is really excellent and it is extremely original. It has obviously been well looked after and ridden carefully as there is no damage to any of the parts that are usually bent or scratched. The paintwork is original with its gold pin stripes. It is not absolutely immaculate but i would say it is very very good. It would not look out of place at a classic bike show. The wheel chrome is good and has a coating of oil to preserve it as when i bought it it had been carefully stored for a couple of years after the death of the elderly owner. They will polish up very well. The handlebars are not quite so good but still quite presentable.   The original bell. tool box and pare jupes (devices to stop a skirt getting tangled in the rear wheel spokes) are all fitted. The engine plastics are all in fine condition and the very rare plastic rear light is not broken which is unusual. The correct metal petrol tank has one very small crease that is not easy to see but is there. If you look very closely at the photos you may be able to see it. The saddle is the original one and in very good condition. The lights both work and the tyres are i usable condition with reasonable tread but are not new. They are good quality Michelin and Hutchinson items which have a fair bit of life left in them.   There is no log book with the bike as until recently mopeds in France did not require registration. I will supply with the bike a French certificate de cession and receipt in french and English to assist with registering in the UK.   Please note that this bike is at present in the town of Chabris in the Indre (36) department of central France. For a price of ?40 i can arrange for the bike to be delivered to the Worthing area on the south coast straight after the auction ends. Other destinations in the Uk are possible but please email me for a price. Please note that i do not ship to Portugal.
