An interesting machine with a colorful history. this 1949/50 Scott Flying Squirrel has been owned by my father for seven years and sadly due to deteriorating health he can no longer ride it. It's currently located in Wellington. New Zealand. and any freight would be the buyers responsibility although we do a lot of international shipping ourselves and can happily arrange this for you. The bike has an interesting history along with some modifications along the way and there are a number of articles and letters of provenance covering these from the Scott Owners Club. The bike was featured in the Scott "Yowl" magazine in the 60's in an article written by it's then owner. a Mr Howells of Kidderminster who had fitted it with a bespoke rear swinging arm. Norton Roadholder forks. and Norton Commando front wheel and brakes. During the 60's it was further modified by him including gear driven oil pump. 12v electrics upgrade including twin coils and twin contact breaker ignition which appear to be from a Triumph Twin of pre '67 origin. During this period he also changed the engine to one from a batch known as the "Matt Holder Development Engines" the tank was changed to a 5 gallon version on rubber mounts (1965 BSA A65 Thunderbolt) and Amal concentric carburettor fitted with modified air filter. This machine was exhibited at the Scott Owners Club Rally in 1968. 69 & 1971. Between that date and present day the frame appears to have been changed to a Birmingham type and bespoke side panels fitted. The bike has been in New Zealand since 1975 enjoying the salt free roads in the hands of a succession of enthusiasts. Please contact me for any further details. we can arrange shipping worldwide and are happy to negotiate price including or excluding shipping. The bike is has current valid New Zealand registration and WOF.
