This beautifully restored and maintained bike is offered for auction. There is substantial history going back to the first owner. a Mr. Choraffa who owned the bike from 1938 to 1960 but hardly used it at all. He offerred it to the Maston Sunbeam Museum because of its little use and originality. This did not transpire. but it was brought by a Mr. John Davies who kept it nonetheless in a museum and did not use it. He sold the bike to the the third owner in 1993. a Mr. B***. who also did not use it on the road though he did get an M. O. T organized. Mr. B*** sold it to the last owner before me. Mr. R****** (five owners in all including me). In 1993 Mr. Choraffa. then very elderly. nbsp;wrote a letter to Mr. B*** with details of his ownership years. which is in the records offered with the bike for sale. There are other letters and details concerning the bike which is original and hardly used since new. It was untaxed between 1960 and 2006 and not used. The bottom part of the engine has not even been taken apart: it remains as it left the factory. The owner prior to me. Mr. R****** even kept a log of all his improvements. servcing and rides which makes fascinating reading and shows how much the bike has been loved and looked after. He bought the bike with a registered mileage of 2371 which should be correct being the mileage Mr. Choraffa did in 22 years. It now stands at 10118. I have taken it to rallies and it pulls a crowd immediately.
It has recently had a magneto. dynamo and carbaretto refurbishment. The gears too have been replaced. with bills to show. All gears select effortlessly and firmly. Some of the paintwork of the bike shows signs of use and is not in concourse condition. However it is still good. Almost all the nuts/bolts have been replaced with stainless steal (the only ones not I think are on the mag/dynamo). Chrome is all excellent. though a mark where the kickstart has brushed against the silencers is visible. I believe that the only fault on the chrome. It starts and runs beautifully. with a fine engine tone as you would expect from an engine in first class condition. All cables are new.
This model is the much rarer 600cc overhead value model.

Buyer can pay either on collection or by bankers draft. Transport can be arranged at the buyers expense.
Please note that the second owner. Mr. Davies. nbsp;sadly lost the log book and as a result the bike was reregistered in 1993 which means that the registration number is non-transferable. but on the same original plate. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Maston Sunbeam from the 1930s in a very underused condition.
