Suzuki TS50X Sports Moped 50cc Learner legal

Here for sale is my daughter's Suzuki TS50X. which she has used from her sixteenth birthday until last month. when she graduated to a 125.

The bike runs. starts easily and has been generally reliable. considering it is nearly 22 years old and has passed through many 16 year old owners! As you can imagine. it is not pristine but would make a great subject for a restoration or provide another year's use for another sixteener who can't bear to suffer the embarrassment of a scooter.

Good points - good starting and running. Generally reliable. Low running costs. Low depreciation. MOT until April. A good way to learn to ride a proper motorcycle. with gears etc. The bike has just over 25. 00 miles on the clock and this appears to be supported by the old mileages recorded on the MOT since 2010. Mostly standard (not big bored. quiet exhaust). All the lights currently working. Battery holds a charge (6volt).

Bad points - could really do with some love and attention. The main issue is the float in the carb partially sinks. allowing the fuel to overflow. even after attempting to adjust float height. The parts are available to fix this on the internet. but it hasn't reached the point where the fuel leaks when the engine is running. so my daughter just started it with the fuel off and then turned it on as she pulled away. Also. due to poor maintenance of the chain. it jumped the sprocket and broke part of the crankcase (see picture). We have the part that has broken off and it may be possible to have it welded back on. or even maybe araldite it. The part of the case that is open is only the sprocket area. so again. it hasn't been fixed as it didn't stop the bike working. Advisories from the MOT - rear wheel bearings. slight play in swingarm and the ball is missing off the brake lever. The fake radiator cover is missing from the right of the bike (see pictures). Generally. the bike has poor cosmetics. as you would expect from a 22 year old learner bike. I saw this as a positive as it meant less chance of depreciation.

So. all in all. a good little bike either for a learner or as a basis for a full restoration. just requiring a little tidying up but basically rideable as is.
